Sensor Update

I am enjoying my sensor, and learning a lot about how my blood glucose responds to food and insulin. I've already started to pick out a few patterns even without downloading my information. The other thing I have discovered is that if you don't attend to a blood glucose alarm it will get more obnoxious so you will (hopefully)notice it. It's been really nice to see where I need to adjust my overnight basals, since before I was always wary of adjusting them too much and having a low. Now I know that whatever my bloodsugar is at 9pm it pretty much stays there until 3am, at which point it starts it's gradual rise. I had suspected that, but now I have the proof, without having to set my obnoxious alarm clock to wake me up in the middle of the night. Well, that's about all I can think of at the moment, but I'll keep updating periodically. I hope everyone is enjoying the last days of summer, because I know here in the Northeast it's getting pretty cool at night so fall is on it's way.

Thanks for the update. Are you using the CGMS by itself, or do you also have the new pump from Minimed? I'm trying to figure out whether the new pump is worth upgrading to, without getting the CGMS.

The CGMS sounds like it's very useful, I just can't bear paying for it all myself.

Yay! Another Real-Time blogger! :)

I've been using the 522 with the TGMS for about three months and I absolutely love it! I am glad to hear that you are having a positive experience and I hope you continue to. Do you use the Link meter? In spite of the many issues that others have had with BD's glucometers, my own experiences are nothing but good (and I base that on lab comparisons lol).

Keep us updated and good luck.

Bernard,
I just have the 522 now- need to see if insurance will cover it. If you are looking to get the sensor, it's definitely worth upgrading to the 522. Also, if you can't adjust the "Active Insulin On Board" part on your pump it's another good reason to upgrade. It's nice to be able to adjust that to your own preferance.
Tiffany,
I actually use the One touch Ultra. I did use the BD for awhile, and when there was question about the accuracy switched back to the Ultra. I remember the first Lifescan meter, so I'm biased:)
